The Commitment

Access Aligned is a platform designed to remove the barriers that prevent disabled people from attending and fully participating in live events.

Accessibility should not depend on repeated explanation, individual negotiation, or inconsistent responses. Too often, disabled people are required to chase information, request reasonable adjustments multiple times, and navigate uncertainty before they even arrive at an event.

Access Aligned exists to change that by making accessibility information clearer, more consistent, and easier to access before an event takes place.

The aim is simple: reduce uncertainty, improve communication, and help people plan with confidence. When information is available in advance and presented clearly, people can make informed decisions and engage with events on equal terms.

Accessibility is not an additional feature of Access Aligned. It is the foundation of how the platform is built, structured, and maintained. Aligned by values, Accessible by design.

Why Access Aligned exists

Access Aligned was built from lived experience of navigating inaccessible spaces and inconsistent accessibility provision across events and venues.

For many people, attending an event begins with anticipation. For many disabled people, it begins with uncertainty.

  • Will there be an accessible toilet?
  • Will staff understand my access needs?
  • Can my support person attend without difficulty?
  • Is there somewhere quiet if I become overwhelmed?
  • Who do I contact if I need support, and will I get a response?

These are not exceptional questions. They are basic planning needs that are often difficult to answer.

Access Aligned exists to reduce that burden by supporting a future where accessibility information is reliable, visible, and standardised across the live events sector.

Setting Standards

Access Aligned works only with organisations that are committed to improving accessibility and reducing barriers for attendees, artists, crew, volunteers, and visitors.

To partner with Access Aligned, organisations are required to meet minimum accessibility standards. These include:

  • A named accessibility contact person
  • A monitored accessibility email address and/or phone line
  • Clear response time expectations for accessibility enquiries
  • Accessible toilet facilities
  • Complimentary or reduced-cost companion, PA, carer, or essential support tickets where required
  • Clear and visible communication about available accessibility services

Access Aligned recognises that organisations may be at different stages in their accessibility journey. However, certain basic standards should no longer be optional.

The platform supports organisations in improving accessibility over time, while helping establish a more consistent baseline across the live events industry.

The Vision

Accessibility information should be easy to find and easy to understand. Support should be simple to request and straightforward to manage. Disabled people and their companions should spend less time proving their needs and more time participating in the experiences they choose.

Accessibility should be a normal part of event planning from the beginning, not something added afterwards.

Digital Accessibility

Access Aligned is designed with accessibility built in from the start.

The platform includes user-controlled accessibility settings that allow people to adjust how content is displayed, including options such as text scaling, contrast adjustments, and reduced motion support, so the experience can be adapted to individual needs.

Accessibility is an ongoing process. The platform is regularly reviewed and improved, and feedback is actively welcomed. If you encounter a barrier, technical issue, unclear content, or an improvement opportunity, you are encouraged to report it.

Report a Problem

Accessibility barriers, technical issues, bugs, or suggestions for improvement can be reported through the Report a Problem page.

When reporting an issue, it is helpful to include:

  • The page you were using
  • The device you were using
  • Any assistive technology involved
  • A description of what happened
