Trusted Verification

Most access adjustments on Access Aligned do not require verification.

I believe people should be able to describe their access needs without having to provide evidence for every request.

However, some organisations may require verification for specific services where resources are limited or where complimentary or reduced-fee support services are provided.

When Trusted Verification May Be Required

Examples include:

  • Complimentary or reduced-fee companion, carer, PA, support worker, parent, guardian, or essential support person tickets
  • Queue adjustments
  • Accessible viewing platforms with limited capacity
  • Other organisation-defined services

Verification requirements are determined by the organisation providing the service.

Verify Once, Use Across Participating Events

Access Aligned aims to reduce the need for disabled people to repeatedly submit evidence of need.

Once your verification has been approved through Access Aligned:

  • Your verification status can be recognised by participating organisations across the platform
  • You should not be required to repeatedly upload the same evidence for each event
  • Participating organisations can see that your verification has been approved
  • Participating organisations cannot access the evidence you submitted

This creates a simpler and more consistent experience for both attendees and organisations.

How Trusted Verification Works

  1. You request a service that requires verification.
  2. You upload supporting evidence through the secure verification process.
  3. The evidence is reviewed.
  4. A verification decision is recorded.
  5. The original document is permanently deleted.

What Evidence Can Be Provided?

Where verification is required, organisations may accept documents such as:

  • GP letters
  • Medical letters
  • Disability-related documentation
  • Existing access cards or schemes
  • Other supporting evidence

Accepted evidence may vary between organisations.

What Information Is Stored?

To protect your privacy, Access Aligned keeps the minimum amount of information necessary.

Following verification, I may store:

  • Verification status
  • Date approved
  • Expiry date
  • Verification category

Original supporting documents are deleted after verification has been completed.

Participating organisations can see your verification status but cannot view the documents you uploaded.

Verification Validity

Verification is normally valid for three years.

During this period:

  • Your approved verification can be used across participating organisations on Access Aligned
  • You will not normally need to provide additional evidence for the same verified service
  • Participating organisations can rely on your verified status rather than requesting further documentation

Verification Renewal

You may be reminded when your verification is due to expire.

Reminder notifications may be sent:

  • 3 months before expiry
  • 3 weeks before expiry
  • 3 days before expiry

Notification preferences can be managed through your account settings.

What If Verification Is Declined?

If verification is declined, you may:

  • Receive information about why
  • Be invited to provide additional evidence
  • Contact the organisation for clarification

A declined verification does not affect your ability to use Access Aligned unless the specific service requires approval.

Our Approach

Access Aligned is committed to balancing accessibility, privacy, trust, and fairness.

I encourage organisations to minimise verification requirements wherever possible and focus on removing barriers rather than creating unnecessary obstacles.
