Attending Events with Access Aligned
Access Aligned helps disabled people, carers, Personal Assistants (PAs), support workers, parents, guardians, artists, and crew members communicate accessibility requirements for live events.
The aim is simple: spend less time explaining your needs and more time enjoying the events you want to attend.
Early Access Testing Phase
Access Aligned is currently in an early testing and development phase. While many core features have been designed, some areas of the platform are still being built, refined, and tested. During this phase, you may notice changes to features, layouts, wording, or functionality as I learn from real-world use.
By joining during the testing phase, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of the platform through your feedback and experiences. My aim is to build Access Aligned alongside the people who will use it, ensuring it reflects the realities of disabled people, carers, support workers, artists, crew members, and event attendees.
Accessibility is not something that can be perfected in isolation. Your feedback will play an important role in helping me improve the platform over time.
What You Can Do
You can create an Access Profile that explains your access requirements in a clear and structured way. This may include things such as:
- Accessible toilets
- Step-free access
- Seating requirements
- Quiet spaces
- Companion or support person requirements
- Communication preferences
- Queue support
- Accessible parking
- Medical equipment requirements
- Sensory adjustments
You can also add custom requirements that are not already listed.
Prioritise What Matters Most
Not all access requirements have the same impact. You can indicate whether an adjustment is:
- Helpful
- Significant Impact
- Essential
This helps organisations understand what is most important for you and what may affect your ability to attend.
Fluctuating Conditions
Many people experience changing access requirements. You can describe both your typical needs and how they may change on better or more challenging days, helping organisers plan more realistically.
You Control Your Information
You decide what information organisations can see. You can:
- Share only your adjustments
- Share additional profile information
- Revoke access at any time
- Update your information whenever needed
- Share different information with different organisations
Trusted Verification
Most access requirements do not require verification. However, some organisations may require verification for specific services such as:
- Complimentary companion tickets
- Reduced-fee companion tickets
- Queue adjustments
- Accessible camping
- Other organisation-defined services
Access Aligned uses Trusted Verification. If approved, your verification status is normally valid for three years. Participating organisations can see your verification status, meaning you should not need to repeatedly upload the same evidence for every event.
Your documents are deleted after verification and are never shared with organisations.
Support Accounts
If you are supported by a PA, carer, support worker, parent, guardian, or anyone else who helps manage your access needs, they can create a support account and connect it to your profile. A support account can be connected to one or more people, making it easy to manage access needs for everyone you support in one place.
Support account holders can also have their own access profile and requirements. Access profiles remain separate unless information sharing has been specifically authorised.
